Kia Forward Collision

Did you know rear-end collisions account for a third of all serious speeding-related crashes? When you have Kia collision-avoidance assist installed in your car, you’re much safer from all forward-collision hazards. Read on to learn more.

Detect Threats From Cars, Trucks, Cyclists, and Pedestrians

Your Kia has a forward-facing camera at the top of the windshield and also a front radar on the grill. This feature uses both to monitor the road ahead for collision threats. If any vehicle, including a bicycle, or pedestrian suddenly creates a collision hazard ahead, your car will detect it, warn you about it, and help to avoid the collision.

If you also opt to install corner radars at the front of your Kia, you’ll expand the feature’s functionality. Note that the following aspects of this safety tech may come as standard or optional on your Kia. You can ask us about your particular model.

Receive Audible, Visual, and Tactile Alerts

If the car ahead suddenly slows down, a cyclist crosses your path, or any other collision threat appears, your car will warn you with a clear audible beep and a message on your dashboard screen. You may also be able to receive a tactile alert with steering wheel vibrations.

Automatic Emergency Brakes and Brake-Strengthening

In emergency moments, drivers don’t always respond in time to a warning. If you’re slow to react, your car will apply the brakes for you to avoid or at least reduce the impact. If you do apply the brakes but with insufficient force, your Kia can help by strengthening the brakes.

Gain Assistance With Evasive Steering

Road emergencies often require quick thinking and steering. With the evasive steering feature equipped, your Kia can help you to steer safely around an unexpected obstacle.

Junction Turning and Crossing Collision Avoidance

When you or another driver are either turning at or crossing a junction, inattentive driving or bad timing can create a forward-collision threat. This feature allows your car to warn you, apply the brakes, and assist your evasive steering if necessary.

Lane-Changing Collision Avoidance

When changing lanes at the wrong moment, collision threats can arise with oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction. Also, sometimes a crash risk arises with a vehicle in the neighboring lane that’s moving in the same direction but at a slower speed than you. With this feature installed, these lane-changing hazards can also be detected and avoided or mitigated by your Kia.
